Bienvenidos!

Welcome to the best of South American rain and cloud-forest kayaking. Remote and beautiful, these rivers put the “c” in continuous. Fly into Quito, the capital of Ecuador and we’ll take you east over the mountains to the tiny, dairy community of Borja. There you’ll outfit your kayak from our fleet of current models and head straight to the river for the first of 7 paddling days in a row. We’ll boat in the Quijos Valley for a few days then take a short trip south to run the rivers around Tena. In either drainage you can find big water, drop-pool runs, and continuous, technical stretches of delightful creeking. We bring you the best on and off the water, with quiet, beautiful lodging and great meals to fuel your days.

Why boat with DAK? Our thorough knowledge of the rivers and their many moods allows us to optimize your paddling days. Phil and Mary have been guiding here since 1995. Guiding with us are teachers and paddlers extraorinare, Jaime Dalgo, Matt Terry and Dan Dixon. All three claim Tena as their home, and continue to search out and share new runs in Ecuador.

We are in our kayaks helping you to sharpen your skills so that you nail your moves! We point out the straightforward lines and the challenge moves, and are always available to coach you on technique and strategy.

Our trips include your first and last nights lodging in Quito as well as our farewell banquet the last night. Our private lodge in Borja is georgeous, and our home-cooked meals are the best! All this so that you get to experience the full flavor of Ecuador!

We look forward to guiding you expertly both on the water and off, sharing with you you the best runs for your skills, pointing out the best boofs and moves, as well as letting you know about the exotic plant and birdlife we encounter on the river as we paddle through lush jungle canyons and lightly populated valleys full of birds, butterflies and orchids. If playing on tropical rivers with a small, cohesive group is your ideal way to spend the winter, join us! View your itinerary: Class III+ or Class IV- to Class 4+.

"You guys are World Class at what you do --- you keep us safe on the river, make sure we are comfortable off the river, insure we have fun on and off the river, all the while coaching us to perform better than we think we can - it's the ideal adventure trip"

- Dave Reid, OK
